Description

Fine material washing has always presented a significant challenge in aggregate processing plants. Traditional washing systems often struggle to retain valuable micronized particles, leading to material loss and inconsistent product quality. CONSTMACH's CDS-1635 dewatering screen and hydrocyclone system addresses this problem head-on, offering a sophisticated solution for processing materials up to 7 mm in size with capacities ranging from 100 to 150 tons per hour.

The standout feature of this model lies in its ability to recover particles as small as 90 microns. While conventional washing equipment like screw washers or bucket wheels typically lose these fine particles in the discharge water, the CDS-1635 captures and retains them in the final product. This capability proves essential when projects demand specific gradation requirements or when maximizing yield from quarried material becomes a priority. The system achieves this through the coordinated action of a 26-inch diameter hydrocyclone working in tandem with a 1,600 × 3,500 mm dewatering screen.

The hydrocyclone operates by using centrifugal force to separate particles based on size and density. Dirty water containing fine materials enters the cyclone under pressure from a 55 kW slurry pump. Heavier particles spiral downward to the apex discharge while lighter particles and excess water exit through the overflow. This underflow, rich in recovered fines, then moves to the dewatering screen where the separation process continues. The screen utilizes dual 7.5 kW vibrator motors to create a high-frequency vibration pattern that efficiently removes remaining water while the polyurethane screen meshes prevent material loss.

Material exiting the CDS-1635 comes out substantially drier compared to output from other washing systems. This matters considerably for operations where stockpiling wet material creates handling problems or where immediate use in concrete or asphalt production is required. The reduced moisture content means less water contamination in storage areas and faster integration into downstream processes.

Maintenance considerations played a clear role in the design of this equipment. The polyurethane screen meshes withstand abrasive materials far better than traditional woven wire screens, resulting in extended service intervals and lower replacement costs. Access points for inspection and component replacement were positioned to minimize downtime during routine service. The robust construction handles the continuous operation demands of high-capacity aggregate plants without excessive wear.

CONSTMACH developed this dewatering system specifically for crushing plants and concrete production facilities that cannot afford to lose valuable fine materials during the washing process. The equipment handles various aggregate types including manufactured sand, crushed stone fines, and natural sand requiring classification and dewatering. Its compact footprint relative to its processing capacity makes it suitable for both new installations and retrofits of existing plants where space presents constraints.

The system's operational efficiency extends beyond particle recovery. By removing excess water effectively, it reduces the load on settling ponds and water treatment systems. This proves particularly valuable in regions with strict environmental regulations or limited water resources where recycling process water becomes necessary for continued operation.
